"We Are The Entertainment"
March 2005 General Meeting
The March 2005 General Meeting will be held on March 23, 2005 at the Pearl Street Grill. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. The meeting agenda will include a discussion on the Fund raising Project, as well as information on the T-0shirt Contest, and the finalized fleet assignments. We will also be having Greg Koski from Doyle Sailmakers giving us a presentation on how to get our boats ready for the upcoming sailing season. We will also be displaying our new line of BHSC sailing gear….so don’t miss this exciting event!
Fleet Assignments
Fleet Assignments are almost complete, If you are interested in how the fleets shake out this year, please make it a point to come to the General Meeting on March 23!
T Shirt Contest
Now is the time to put on your creative thinking caps! We are looking for some creative individuals to submit design logos that can be used on our BHSC Regatta T-shirts. This year’s competition will include a $200.00 prize that will be awarded at the Race Packet Meeting in May. All entries should be in color and original in nature. We cannot accept any photographic or computer generated submissions….only original drawings!! All submissions should be sent to the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club, P.O. Box 34, Ellicott Station, Buffalo, NY 14205-0034 by no later than May 1, 2005. We had some great submissions last year and are looking forward to your great ideas this year!!! In addition, Sarah Burgess has presented a very promising proposal to the Board of Directors for some exciting BHSC sailing apparel. Look for this great gear at our February General Meeting. Future plans may also include using your logo submission as an embroidery logo on our Club Caps, T’s and Polos! Stay tuned!!
Crew Bank
The Crew Bank listing is an opportunity for persons to get involved in the Tuesday, Wednesday and Weekend races. If you know of anyone interested or are a skipper looking for crew, the crew bank is being coordinated by Jim Franzek and George Czumaj . Introduce someone to the sport this year! We want to get these lists up and running soon, so if you are a skipper looking for crew, or crew looking for a ride, get moving now so you won’t be left at the dock!!! (getting left at the dock is a real bummer!!!!)
Junior Sailing Scholarships
Once again, the Buffalo Harbor sailing Club will be offering a limited number of sailing scholarships to our youth under the age of 16 that are interested in pursuing their interests in sailing. Each scholarship is valued at $100.00 and must be used by the end of the 2005 sailing season. Scholarships will be made only to those applicants enrolled in an accredited sailing program and all payments will be made directly to the instructional program that the student participates in. Applicants may only win a scholarship once and must have a direct relationship with a member in good standing of the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2005. Committee Boat Fund Raising

A new day is dawning for the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club and 2005 looks to be a banner year for China Light! “Lifesavers”, the China Light Race Committee boat that everyone is talking about, has arrived! She is a 32’ Chris Craft Roamer in excellent condition for her 40+ years. All she needs is a bit of TLC and some elbow grease and she will be ready for our first races in May.

We are well on the way to reaching our goal of $20,000 in donations to the China Light Committee Boat Fund. These funds will be used to refit Lifesavers to RC boat specifications and to make certain that we can cover general maintenance costs. To date, $6700 has been raised. The Board of directors and the China Light Search Committee, would like to thank all those who have contributed so generously thus far.

Your member support is most gratifying. We urge all members to respond to the letter sent in last month’s BHSC Newsletter and send your donation in whatever amount you are comfortable with to:
